If you like PowerPoint, you will love PhotoStory! I created a PSA for Cyberbullying by using Microsoft PhotoStory. This was a fun activity, which was also challenging. I downloaded PhotoStory and then created my slides and provided narration. Then, I opened my PhotoStory withWindows Movie Maker and then uploaded it to YouTube (which took forever). By using PhotoStory, educators can make interesting videos that appeal to all types of learners (visual, auditory, kinesthetic). A teacher could post a lesson on YouTube or TeacherTube that students could review on their own time. This type of technology could also be helpful when a student is absent or when a teacher is providing differential instruction. This could also be helpful when communicating with colleagues. The link to my YouTube video can be found here: Cyberbullying PSA.
The ISTE NETS T standards that relate to this activity are: 3.c. and 4.b. Teachers can communicate relevant information and ideas (lessons, ideas for instruction, community activities) effectively to students, parents, and peers using a variety of digital-age media (such as posting videos on YouTube or providing videos in the classroom). Also, by using tools like YouTube and TeacherTube, teachers can address the diverse needs of all learners (visual, auditory, special education) by using learner-centered strategies (such as customized videos) providing equitable access to appropriate digital tools and resources (such as YouTube videos via internet).
